Refresher/Tune-up Dive - For Enhanced Diver Safety and Enjoyment

Been diving in the last six months? If not, please consider joining us on one of our most popular dives, and make your first dive on Maui a refresher. There are lots of good reasons for doing a refresher, in fact, the most professional dive boat operators insist on it if it's been a while since you're last dive. What's "a while", you ask? Well, that's different for everyone, but here's some common issues we "iron out" with our tune-ups.

1. BUOYANCY - This is one of the most important safety issues certified divers will encounter. Remembering how to control buoyancy is essential for preventing contact with the bottom and rapid, out of control ascents to the surface. Do you remember which button puts air into the BCD, and which one lets the air out? Do you often have trouble getting down or making your 15-foot safety stop?

2. BOTTOM TIME - Divers who typically get less than 40 minutes out of a tank are often over weighted, under weighted, rusty on their skills, or just plain swimming too fast! We assess each diver and give helpful tips for extending bottom times. Why settle for 30 when you can have a 50 - 60 minute dive?

3. "FIRSTS" - Will your dive on Maui be your first ocean dive, your first dive since certification, or your first dive since a previous unpleasant diving experience? If so, this is the transition dive you may need to get ready for a typical Maui boat dive experience or just "get back on the horse".

Our refresher/tune-up dives are great confidence boosters and will enhance the safety and enjoyment of your dives. These easy shore dives provide you with the perfect opportunity to review your diving skills while enjoying one of Maui's well known sites. Special attention is given to ear equalization, mask clearing, buoyancy control, and ascents and descents. These are all techniques we use on every dive and are important for our safety. With practice these skills become automatic so that our attention can be fully devoted to enjoying the marine life!
